Investing in UC's next generation of minds advancing discovery
The University of California offers select undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers from all 10 UC campuses and the three affiliated national laboratories the opportunity to participate in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, one of the world's most celebrated academic exchanges. Each year, approximately 30 UC researchers are chosen to attend. The fellowship covers their travel and related expenses, making this unique global experience accessible to emerging UC researchers.
Alumni
A community of distinguished scholars
Since 2019, the UC President’s Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings Fellowship has supported exceptional undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral researchers from across the University of California system in attending one of the world's most distinguished academic gatherings.
Selection Process
Evaluated by UC Leaders and Nobel Laureates
In August of each year, campus chancellors and national laboratory directors are asked to nominate up to five undergraduate students, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers from their institutions. Applications are evaluated based on an essay, letters of recommendation, and demonstrated research achievement. These nominees are then reviewed in a multi-stage process involving the Lindau Foundation in Germany and a UC faculty workgroup that includes UC Nobel laureates. Final selections are made by the chief investment officer of UC Investments and the vice president for national laboratories.
